About Joseph Alban
Joseph Alban is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Board Certified Herbalist. Joseph has a thriving practice for more than 15 years where he has helped thousands of patients.
Joseph strives to bring the highest quality acupuncture and Chinese medicine care to his New York City practice. Through his extensive training and experience he has developed an integrated, patient centered, approach to treating many chronic illnesses. Partnering with each patient to create a personalized treatment course.
In 2006, Joseph completed a Chinese Medicine hospital residency in Hunan, China where he trained with leading clinicians in acupuncture, Chinese medicine dermatology, and medical massage. He graduated from Touro College’s Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine, obtaining a Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. In addition to clinical training in China, he has worked at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently completing a Doctor of Acupuncture degree.
In 2012, he received the Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Diploma from world renowned expert Mazin Al-Khafaji. He has continued studies in Chinese Medicine dermatology with Mazin Al-Khafaji and sits on the board of the International Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Association. He is also the editor and a contributing author of the ebook An Introduction to Chinese Medicine Dermatology.
Joseph has published many articles on Acupuncture and Chinese medicine for the treatment of Chronic Pelvic Pain and Prostatitis as well as numerous papers on Chinese Medicine for dermatological conditions. He is currently the Traditional Chinese Medicine editor of Learn Skin, an integrative medicine skin education resource and a frequent speaker at the Integrative Dermatology Symposium. Additionally, he has been featured in magazines such as Time Out New York, Marie Claire, Acufinder Magazine, and Acupuncture Today.
In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice, Joseph also plays Wu Style Tai Ji, coaches kids soccer, commutes by bicycle, and is an avid cook and fermentation enthusiast.
