Joseph Alban, D.Ac, M.S., L.Ac

For more than 20 years, Dr. Joseph Alban has helped patients improve their health and quality of life through acupuncture and Chinese medicine. He has extensive experience treating chronic pain, skin conditions, cancer treatment-related symptoms, and other complex health concerns.

Education, Licensure, and Advanced Clinical Training

Dr. Alban is a Doctor of Acupuncture, New York State Licensed Acupuncturist, and NCCAOM Board-Certified Herbalist. He completed advanced clinical training during a Chinese medicine hospital residency in Hunan, China, where he studied acupuncture, herbal medicine, dermatology, and Tui Na alongside experienced physicians. He earned his Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from Touro College and later completed his Doctorate of Acupuncture at Five Branches University.

Known for his thoughtful and personalized approach, Dr. Alban takes the time to understand each patient’s unique health history, symptoms, and goals. Over more than two decades in practice, he has developed a clinical style that blends traditional Chinese medicine principles with modern understanding of chronic pain, complex health conditions, and the many factors that influence healing.

This patient-centered philosophy allows him to effectively treat both common complaints and complex chronic conditions while building collaborative relationships that support long-term health and wellness.

Specialized Expertise in Chinese Medicine Dermatology

He has advanced training in Chinese medicine dermatology, including the Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Diploma under internationally recognized expert Mazin Al-Khafaji. Dr. Alban serves on the board of the International Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Association and is the editor and contributing author of An Introduction to Chinese Medicine Dermatology.

Teaching, Writing, and Professional Contributions

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Alban is an educator, author, and speaker. He serves as the Traditional Chinese Medicine Editor for LearnSkin and is an annual speaker at the Integrative Dermatology Symposium, where he lectures on the role of acupuncture and Chinese medicine in integrative skin care. He has published articles on chronic pelvic pain, prostatitis, and dermatological conditions, and his work has been featured in Time Out New York, Marie Claire, Medical Acupuncture, and Acupuncture Today.

Life Outside the Clinic

When he’s not in the clinic, Dr. Alban enjoys practicing Qi Gong, coaching youth soccer, cycling through New York City, and experimenting with new recipes and fermentation projects in the kitchen.

Davin Ramlogan, M.S., L.Ac.

Davin is a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist.

He values serving humanity through the healing arts and uses a range of acupuncture techniques including trigger point or dry needling, to a more gentle approach of Japanese style acupuncture.

He incorporates a range of modalities into his practice such as electroacupuncture, moxibustion, gua sha, cupping and Tui Na (medical-massage).

He received his Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Diploma from master herbalist and world-renowned clinician in the field of dermatology and Chinese Medicine, Mazin Al-Khafaji, and is a member of the International Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Association. 

Davin is passionate about the accessibility to patient-centered and holistic forms of healthcare and has done clinical internships at the Veteran Affairs Hospital, as well as OnPoint, an overdose prevention center in Harlem, NY.
