Joseph Alban, D.Ac, M.S., L.Ac

Joseph Alban is a Doctor of Acupuncture, New York State Licensed Acupuncturist, and NCCAOM Board Certified Herbalist. Joseph has had a thriving practice for more than 18 years where he has helped thousands of patients.

Dr. Alban strives to bring the highest quality acupuncture and Chinese medicine care to his New York City practice. Through his extensive training and experience, he has developed an integrated, patient-centered, approach to treating many chronic illnesses. Partnering with each patient to create a personalized treatment course.

In 2006, Dr. Alban completed a Chinese Medicine hospital residency in Hunan, China where he trained with leading clinicians in acupuncture, Chinese medicine dermatology, and Tui Na (medical-massage). He graduated from Touro College’s Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine and completed a Doctorate of Acupuncture from Five Branches University. 

In 2012, he received the Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Diploma from world-renowned expert Mazin Al-Khafaji. He has continued studies in Chinese Medicine dermatology with Mazin Al-Khafaji and sits on the board of the International Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Association. He is also the editor and a contributing author of the ebook An Introduction to Chinese Medicine Dermatology.

Dr. Alban has published many journal articles on Acupuncture and Chinese medicine for the treatment of Chronic Pelvic Pain and Prostatitis as well as numerous scholarly articles on Chinese Medicine for dermatological conditions.

Dr. Alban is currently the Traditional Chinese Medicine editor of Learn Skin, an integrative medicine skin education resource, and an annual speaker at the Integrative Dermatology Symposium. Additionally, he has been featured in magazines such as Time Out New York, Marie Claire, Acufinder Magazine, and Acupuncture Today.

Dr. Alban is also a licensed Florida Telehealth provider.

In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice, Dr. Alban also practices Qi Gong, coaches kids soccer, commutes by bicycle, and is an avid cook and fermentation enthusiast.
