Joseph Alban (portrait)

Joseph Alban believes that combining a caring relationship with traditional treatment skills make for the most effective healing process. Dedicated to the traditional apprenticeship style and classical Chinese medicine, he traveled to China to complete a hospital residency at the First Traditional Chinese Medicine Teaching Hospital of the Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. There, in the acupuncture, Chinese Herbal medicine and tui na (medical massage) departments he trained with leading physicians in the field. "In China I saw how the traditional doctors use both their clinical treatment skills and the clinical relationship to help their patients. This training still influences me today and remains the backbone of my practice." His practice focuses on helping patients living with chronic illness and pain with individualized acupuncture, Tui Na, and herbal recommendations.

Currently, he holds New York and New Jersey Acupuncture Licenses and is a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine. He is also serving as Director of Fundraising for the New York Acupuncture Coalition and Acupuncture Research Consultant at Lutheran Medical Center. Prior to going to China, Joseph graduated from Touro College's four year clinical Masters program in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, during which he worked in Touro's clinic as well as at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
